Recovering Healers Scholarship Fund
New Mexico Leaders in Recovery and High Desert Healing, in partnership with Santa Fe Recovery Center, New Mexico Highlands University Foundation, BHSD, and Serenity Mesa, are excited to announce the ongoing campaign for the Recovering Healers Scholarship Fund.
The Recovering Healers Scholarship Fund is dedicated to raising money for Certified Peer Support Workers (CPSWs) in New Mexico, helping them further their education and achieve their dreams of attending the Masters of Social Work program at New Mexico Highlands University (NMHU). This initiative empowers CPSWs, who are uniquely qualified to support others through their personal recovery experiences, to advance their careers and enhance the quality of behavioral health services in our communities.
Thanks to the incredible support and generosity at our gala in March 2024, we successfully raised funds for three full scholarships. We are thrilled to announce that additional scholarships are still available, and we encourage both current and prospective students to apply.

By supporting the Recovering Healers Scholarship Fund, you are investing in the future of behavioral health in New Mexico. Together, we can help CPSWs achieve their educational and professional goals, fostering a brighter, more resilient community.

Map of Local Collaboratives
New Mexico is undertaking a transformational process with regards to improving behavioral health services to adults, children, youth, and families, driven by a focus on recovery and resiliency. The Behavioral Health Collaborative was created during the 2004 Legislative Session. The enabling statute allows several state agencies and multiple resources across state government involved in behavioral health prevention, treatment, and recovery to work as one in an effort to improve mental health and substance abuse services in New Mexico.
There are 18 local collaboratives (LCs) mapped out per state statute. Currently, there are only 12 active LCs. Part of NMLR's current mission in partnership with the State Behavioral Health Collaborative is to get back to 18 LCs functioning and working with state and local government to shape policy around behavioral health solutions, each able to highlight their unique strengths and gaps in combatting these issues. If you’re interested in LC activity, please get in touch with us.
