On September 07, 2024, several Eddy County agencies and residents in recovery will gather to spread mental health and substance use awareness and resources in light of National Recovery and Eddy County Recovery Month. 

The community event will consist of the following:

• Food and drink trailers, 

• Bouncy houses for the children this year

• Guest speakers (people in recovery sharing their testimony),

• Mayor Rick Lopez (keynote speaker in support of recovery in Eddy County) 

• Agencies will set up a booth to share their mental health and substance use resources.

• Disc Golf

• Luminarias will be available for guests to write on the place around the Walk For Recovery circle

• The Eddy County Fire & Rescue team will have their safety trailer on site for people to learn fire safety Local law enforcement will have a booth and guest speaker to share their support for recovery in Eddy County.

• An area will be set up for the actual walk (we walk for all those still suffering and those we've lost)

•  Candlelight vigil (for those we've lost to substance use and/or mental health issues)

• Finally, yet importantly, the event will celebrate recovery in Eddy County by inviting all those in recovery to the stage for residents to show support!

• A celebration song will be played and those in recovery will dance, clap, and sing along as they celebrate their recovery.
